What is your perfume? (and: Miss Doodle is back home on her very own blog)
Miss Doodle is back on her blog, at MISS DOODLE’S DAY – CUTE ILLUSTRATIONS FROM PARIS
We have both decided that this is better for her and me and also for those who love her. As she represents the other part of my split personality, she felt “crushed” here and thinks that she needs her own univers in order to freely express herself.

Sometimes you just don’t know… (Big Angel’s Evening Gown) – Watercolor Illustration
…where visions come from. The vision of my big angel has probably to do with my love for textiles and Haute-Couture, but also with the many human beings I see here daily. No! People are not walking around in extravagant evening gowns in the Paris Metro, but there are so many differently shaped faces and bodies fusing into my intuitive sketching.
This kind of “Drawing from inside” works well with a very fine ink-pen (0.1mm), just letting the lines float into the hand, into the pen and softly on the paper. Oh, don’t think. Just look and let grow…

Need a new pair, girls? – Besoin d’une nouvelle paire, les filles?
I must say that I LOVE shoes, even those I cannot walk in, they are such beautiful objects….: This composition in Watercolor took me quite a long time. First I made the ink drawings of the shoes which took me several days given that I have to work on other things too. I must say this is a great drawing exercise. Then I let it sit for a few days before beginning to put the color on. Actually the shoes I chose did not have the colors I gave them here, I just improvised, going with the flow, putting on layers of color, letting dry, again put color on etc. and always having an eye on the composition. Fashion-Totem-Dance seen in VOGUE France
©estandrea 2009
Wild patterns everywhere, the inspiration for this painting was a photograph in this week’s VOGUE-France edition. I draw the dance-posture and clothes as they appeared in the picture, but gave it a different face and haircolor. Apparently fashion designers now fancy “real” animalskin in addition to animalskin-patterns, printed on silky fabric.
I personally don’t like this skin-idea very much.
The picture was nice and reminded me of this old movie I watched( in the Jackson Pollock exhibition I talked about in a post which you can find here in the new blog) about tribal Northamerican art, where a medecin man wrapped in animalskin danced a wild rythmic dance….
