A trip to Boulevard HaussmannSunday afternoon I decided to go “downtown”, by train.
got off the train at “AUBER” station
and followed the sign: “Boulevard Haussmann – Grands Magasins”. Came out at the Opera…
My camera (which I have not used so often because I’m still afraid of it and, stubborn as I am, don’t read the manual! ) in my hand, I strolled in front of the big windows of Galeries Lafayettes and Printemps department stores.
Not many window shoppers! By now the sun was gone. Grey clouds announcing rain. Brrr.
Two “SDF” (which means “sans domicile fixe” which means “homeless”) were sitting on the sidewalk, though not near to each other. Territories. One had two puppies and the other one long white beard. They camped just in front of the many luxury window dressings of the PRINTEMPS.
I walked this sidewalk up and down, and then back up again, and then I headed over to Rue Tranchet and “Madeleine”…… I have taken so many photos that I could keep you here for hours, but I’ll save some for the next post!

Ohhh, this watercolor is truly wonderful and takes me back to those lovely days in Paris just enjoying one beautiful window display after another! And now, you show us these beautiful windows full of beauty, too. I love hearing about your trip and the stops. On my next trip, I will have an even better understanding of this area. Thank you so much for this wonderful trip and for showing us this amazing watercolor!
It felt like I was window shopping with YOu! I too love this watercolor, esp the little girl tugged between Mom and Dad. suki
