Hurt Has Many Faces I. – La douleur à beaucoup de visages I.

Hurt Has Many Faces 1 - Watercolor-Ink-Gouache 56 x 76 CM (22 x 29.9 in)

Thoughts about hurt, hurting. Hurt has many faces. What do I know about it? It can be physical and emotional, it can be your’s or someone else’s.

As soon as we have learned what it is, we do everything to avoid it like the plague but there’s no hiding place, eventually we have to live with it.

Can it be our friend? Perhaps, if anything else fails, I have to make it my friend, then I can live with it, but that’s perhaps easier to do with the physical hurt

than with emotional one.

Anyway, it’s a muse, too.

  1. this is beautiful and flowing andrea. the face looks like a baby wrapped in a bunting about to make her way into new life.

  2. Beautiful and powerful piece.

This hurt seems as though it is being carried on the back of health. It seems there is strength and power holding up the hurt so it can be felt and dealt with. There is a lot of pain here, yet it seems there is also a lot of hope. I love that balance!

You are right there are many faces to hurt, but with all of them it feels as though the world is crumbling into bits…I see the bits here and they are being cleansed by the tears!

What a powerful painting full of emotion and strength. I truly LOVE it! Keep Painting.

  4. This hurt is very colorful and powerful how emotions are.. this is a good way to focus on healing.

  5. Hurt, emotional hurt seems to heal slower. Pain is a strong muse yet often left to ponder from within. the color is there muted and not sure how to merge. A song I hope http://latentrecordings.com/cowboyjunkies/videos/# Sweet Jane video if the link just gets you to the page. peace pjc
