SORRY,iiinriguig, yes, but lousy.
They abuse the famous name “hotel du nord”..
There is over there a nice coffe . KAFFEEHAUS” a decent meeting place where one could step in.
Toursists can make a canal de Seine trip with I think CANAURXAMA and have a look at the hotel while traveling in a boat.
It starts near la Bastille and ends la Villette.

Very mysterious door. I love your painting here. I have painted the Hotel du Nord on Canal St Martin which also has an intriguing history. I wonder if there are more?

Hello Andrea!

Hotel du Nord! I love this painting of that door! I am glad the Door Queens are out in force! This one is so intriguing in that you wonder if anyone is even back there? It is all kind of crooked and cracked, yet the sign is clear. It has to be like a hostel or something where you would worry about the security of your belongings. When my husband backpacked across Europe in 1980, he told of some odd little places he stayed along the way. This reminds me of one of them, although he did not stay the night in Paris, then, I don’t believe.

I find the tiny tiles very interesting and also the fact of not being able to see beyond. Sometimes, though these small hotels are not even on the ground floor. I remember one of those in Berlin where we stayed. The doors were nice and you could see through to a grand staircase, but the foyer of the hotel was actually up two flights of stairs. Maybe this is like that.

Like you, I find the plant above the door interesting…and some are still green after not being cared for and through the winter, too. A very intriguing place, indeed and an excellent painting! I truly love it!
